{"id":3391,"date":"2022-12-08T10:45:06","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T00:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ballarat-events-begonia.vercel.app\/about\/begonias\/growing-begonias-at-home\/"},"modified":"2023-02-13T16:07:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-13T06:07:46","slug":"growing-begonias-at-home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ballaratbegoniafestival.com\/about-begonias\/growing-begonias-at-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Growing Begonias at Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When growing Begonias at home, they are best grown in a pot, outside in a protected position with morning sun and protection from wind and rain.<\/li><li>When Begonias go dormant, you can leave the tuber in the pot, and place the lot into a dark cupboard, in a dark garden shed is ideal.<\/li><li>The tubers will naturally \u2018eye\u2019 up, like a potato, and start to shoot by themselves whilst still in the dark.<\/li><li>Once this occurs it\u2019s time to take the tuber out of the pot, shake gently to remove the old potting mix, and repot using fresh, quality, free-draining potting mix, with the slow release (6 month) fertilizer mixed through.<\/li><li>Once re-potted, commence watering and remember they do like the surface of the potting mix to dry out between watering; but too much water and the tubers will rot, it\u2019s a delicate balance.
